Our senior designer has a dark and dirty secret... When he's not head down in design mode he likes nothing more than slipping off into a back room and getting all inky.
Leo is passionate about the world of low tech print. Whether creating a collagraph, cutting a lino, scratching a drypoint or putting the squeegee to a screen print he's happy.
With a young family finding the time to print isn't always easy and signing up to an evening course is a great way to find time. Leo says 'It took me a while to get into printing as the first evening course I signed up for at Truro College was delayed for a year due to there not being enough participants to run it'. Since then Leo has attended a further course at Truro College before going on to several courses with Dena O'Brien at Kiwi Print Studios. He completed the advanced course in November. 'The Kiwi Studio courses are superb. Dena's enthusiastic approach soon has you seeing the potential to enhance and adapt your prints. Attending the course forces you to dedicate time to creating prints and trying new methods.'
Leo is now looking to fine tune some of what he has learnt and develop his love of ink. His work was recently chosen for the creation of merchandise for the Porthleven Food Festival and local sales of prints helped to raise funds for the Porthleven Skate park.
