MJ Medical is a highly respected, forward-thinking medical architectural practice with a dynamic presence across the UK and beyond. They design cutting-edge healthcare facilities on a global scale.

D79 partnered with MJ Medical to craft a website that cements their position as market leaders ready for growth. From UX and UI design to WordPress development, we built a seamless, visually compelling digital experience, brought to life with video, animation, and photography.

A powerful yet intuitive CMS ensures their team can easily manage content, whilst a refreshed brand identity - complete with a new visual language, colour palette, typography and icons - keeps them ahead of the curve.

Beyond the website, D79 is collaborating with MJ Medical on a suite of engaging video collections, elevating internal and external communications and refining branded literature to enhance their impact.

When REDS Group approached Design79, their goal was clear: evolve their brand to reflect a stronger commitment to sustainability while retaining the recognition and credibility they had built over time. The challenge was to move towards a more environmentally focused identity without losing the powerful association behind the name REDS.

Design79 led the rebrand by developing a bold, highly recognisable wordmark that stayed true to the brand’s heritage while introducing a fresh, modern direction. The new identity balances strength and clarity with a subtle shift towards a greener outlook, reinforcing REDS’ role as leaders in Environmental Risk Management.

Beyond the core logo, we created a full brand identity system and a suite of marketing materials designed to ensure consistency across every touchpoint. The updated visuals provide REDS with a confident, professional presence that reflects both their expertise and their forward-thinking approach to environmental responsibility.

To help communicate the company’s work and vision, Design79 also produced a series of video case studies. These films showcase REDS teams in action, capturing real-world environmental risk management in the field. Using drone footage alongside ground-level filming, we were able to highlight the scale and complexity of their projects while giving audiences an authentic look at the people behind the work. By combining design, video, and motion graphics, the project delivered more than a new look, it created a clear and compelling way for REDS to share their story, demonstrate their expertise, and communicate their commitment to a greener future.

The new identity and website positions LEADER as an advocate for rural communities and a force for good. Alex led the creative output for this project, firstly designing the logo and brand architecture to be bold and minimal with confident typography. The comms have a clean structure and a clear message.

The website highlights success stories through copywriting and video, detailing the 100s of people and rural businesses who have been helped by LEADER. The video animation gives a smooth and satisfying feel to the various case studies.

Simon headed up the production of the video fieldwork, visiting and interviewing many businesses and individuals who have received funding and support. From crimping pasties to swimming in dog hydrotherapy pools, we went the extra mile to get the perfect shot.

Leo and Frazer co-directed the various projects with this account, working on scripts, storyboards, UX and video direction. Alexandra and Charity carried out the extensive copywriting and copyediting, establishing and maintaining an informal yet professional tone of voice.

Less is always more with the written word.

Cornwall Space Cluster is an inward-investment programme that has helped Cornwall to attract the space and space-supply-chain businesses to the South West, and that services the now 100s of businesses who operate within this sector. Cornwall is something of a pioneer in the UK’s Space Race, and the brand strategy helps to present the Cluster as both authoritative and innovative.

Design79’s creative team birthed this program with an animated logo that really demanded a second take. Taking into account the many space businesses dotted around the South West, Design79’s senior designer, Frazer, devised a pleasing logo icon that animates the suggestion of a map made up of dotted lines. Minimal yet elegant, it conveys the concept of the Space Cluster in seconds.

A wide collection of brand elements have been crafted, including taglines, typography, colour palette, icons, infographics and motion graphics. The logo and identity is primarily black and white, allowing the businesses it supports to take the limelight. There is an accent colour of bright yellow for more punchy advertising campaigns, and for times when a louder volume is required. The typography has very much a “space” feel, all the while retaining a clean and understated class and authority.

The brand has an emphasis on digital application, which was well employed through the website UX design stages. A robust build and easy-to-use CMS allows for all content to be changed and new pages added and removed by the client.

The printed and digital literature was crafted by Design79’s senior designer, Becky. The layouts and comms are produced with coherence, clarity and flexibility. Leo, our creative director, led on the exhibition and event designs; bold and minimal, the communication at these busy events needs to whisper rather than shout. It needs to offer space for the viewer to quiet the mind in a sea of noise.

The video creation formed the main communication tool for the Cluster’s marketing team; through the pandemic this proved the best tool to connect with their audience. Frazer and Leo worked closely with the client team to develop a set of videos that distilled the offering. This extensive comms pack and brand ecosystem sets Cornwall Space Cluster up as one of the leaders in this exciting and growing sector, allowing it to seamlessly perform across all digital platforms and environmental applications.

The design team followed a research-led process to develop the Mappix brand, talking to school teachers to gain an understanding of what was important and how they’ll use the software, and putting the kid’s education as the highest priority.

The branding and iconography are playful and bright. We designed the smiling face within the logo mark and developed a set of friendly characters for the messaging. The colour palette feels both playful and modern, all the while retaining a professional and sophisticated ethos.

The motion team at Design79 storyboarded and brought the key messages of the software to life. We felt the founder of the company had the perfect voice to deliver the voiceover, which provides extra authenticity and feel.

Cornwall Mining UNESCO World Heritage Sites are a globally recognised set of historical significant locations, on par with Easter Island.

Our Senior Designer, Frazer, led the creative team for this prestigious client. Regularly flying the drone over and through these locations, he has an affinity with this unique landscape of Cornwall. With a well-established logo already in place, we’ve retained and developed the wider brand pack to include a colour palette that denotes the wild and rugged Cornish land- and seascapes, avoiding the traditional Cornish summer palette for this emotive subject.

Building on the heritage aspect, Frazer developed a set of fonts and typographic treatments both for print and digital environments, developing the logo mark into an expressive and emotive brand animation that helped anchor the videos and elevate the brand, and brought all the unique qualities and locations to the foreground.

The website considers the user journey along with a membership area and map functionality. All can be updated by the clients via a custom, comprehensive and user-friendly CMS. Our Creative Director, Leo, headed up the print team who followed the digital layouts, designing all the printed literature; confidence and authority is at the heart of this brand.

With stunning photographs and heartfelt historical editorial, it was a joy to be involved with this project. The videos encapsulate each unique location, utilising excellent drone footage accompanied by subtle yet captivating motion graphics. Made in Cornwall, for Cornwall.

Space Professionals needed to take their brand to the next level. Design79’s Senior Designer, Frazer led the team in this new minimal and confident direction.

Space Professionals new identity revolves around the wordmark, typography and an icon. The Star is simple, elegant and will become memorable for the brand and others within this fast growing sector. The type and shapes suggest space, and evokes a sense of the Space Race, whilst maintaining the simplicity and quality of the big space powerhouses.

Illustration and infographics help expand the visual language, whilst the colour palette has a nice balance giving the client flexibility within other mediums.

The bespoke website has been developed via WordPress, allowing for an amazingly user-friendly CMS, granting the SP team the ability to build their stories with ease.

Aflora

Brand identity, packaging, motion graphics and video content for an independent dog-food producer with its sights on becoming a national brand.

The identity needed to reflect the provenance of the brand. Created in Cornwall and beginning as a cottage industry, it needed to acknowledge its roots. The hand-rendered logo type is not quite perfect, the rough edges give a sense of homemade honesty. The slight arch in the logo type also provides a sense of heritage. The principal colour is deep blue and the palette has a mix of earthy and coastal tones.

For the packaging and wider branding we commissioned a local illustrator: Rose Boex did a fantastic job of bringing to life the range of flavours, showing each flavour as an animal, but in a distinct style. Each flavour draws inspiration from a local beach and Rose’s illustrations give them character.

Our copywriter developed the tag line “Natural Wholesome Happy”, tapping into the core brand values and what customers want for their pets. Our designers worked on the content hierarchy of information and delivered a structure that stands out on the shelf.

The brand identity is warm, friendly and wholesome, drawing from its location. Textures, illustrations, hand-rendered fonts and torn edges give a trusted, local feel and begin to build on the ethos of the company.

We are also developing the brand narrative through motion graphics and video content.

London Overground

The creative team at Design79 have been working closely with Arriva Rail London and Transport for London to convey messages across the rail network.

The aim was to continue to increase awareness about face coverings, but also to highlight the constant cleaning work that is being carried out. The messaging was to be more lighthearted and warm in tone than that of previous campaigns.

Our solution.

We created a set of ten animal characters who could all be used in a friendly way to convey the various messages.

We have a wolf who can huff and puff, but must wear his mask. We have a night owl who tirelessly cleans for your safety. There is the elephant who struggles to put on the mask but gets there in the end (because it’s worth the effort).

The animal element allowed the campaign to poke fun at masks, and the issues around them, without the risk of offence to anyone.

Once the various character stories were agreed we created short, punchy animated videos that are now playing in the Overground trains and stations in the Capital.

We are also rolling out the campaign branding across Oyster card wallets and other collateral. The characters and stories will develop into a social media campaign over the coming weeks. We continue to build on this creative output with our clients; watch this space for further fun developments.

We were asked to help them rebrand, rename and re-energise their communications to coincide with the recently completed extension to the shop floor, which has quadrupled the floor space.

Design79 helped with all aspects of the rebrand, creating new logo, signage, packaging and interiors. We crafted a simple brand manual that allowed the Lifton Farm team to roll out the branding across all platforms. We think the new designs really give a visitor a sense of the family business ethos.

Being a National Trust South West design supplier we work across six counties; Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Dorset.

The south west has over 5 million visitors a year, with 83 historic houses and gardens and heritage sites.

We have built up strong relationships with more and more design buyers from many National Trust locations, such as Lanhydrock and Godolphin House. The creative work ranges from simple promotional leaflets to large scale interpretation graphics for visitor centres.

A lot of our larger projects are still being created in the studio, but will be launching this spring and summer.

Our teams recent and ongoing interpretation graphics involve a little more than just graphic design, such as site visits and discussions with various parties: Experience Managers, Marketing departments, production companies, Tour guides, and Regional Managers. We carry out measurements and take a full visual report from the site back to our studio where the team create moodboards and initial visuals that communicate the spirit of the sites.

We are currently working with the marketing teams at Levant, Botallack, Sennen and Godolphin with work kicking off soon at Glendurgan.

We worked closely with Jay to create clean, minimal editorial spreads that allowed the artwork, photography and stories to take centre stage. Our design was there to whisper and seamlessly guide the reader through the pages with minimal distraction. Our typography is calm and our grid system for the journal allows for maximum white space. The eye is allowed to rest and process the communication slowly unemcumbered by over-worked layouts. The articles are inspired by walks in nature, and so our design tries to capture this stillness, not over-packing the message.

It was an exercise in restraint: what we left out was more important than what we included. We worked alongside the editor with regards to selecting printers and print finishes. Along with site visits and test print samples we ensured the editor was confident in the decisions made. Our role here was to guide and inform, but allow the editor to make final decisions.

King's College London is the city's most central university and ranks amongst the top universities world wide. Looking to relocate student services away from the capital they chose Cornwall as the location for the establishment of King's Service Centre (KSC), and Design79 were asked to implement the branding and create a style guide and environmental graphics.

A location for KSC was found just outside Newquay and work began to transform a new light industry unit into a first-class service centre. The building, which started life as a big open space with a large roller door, had a mezzanine layer added and the door replaced by a glazed unit, creating a time-out area complete with sofas.
